Need For Speed’s DLC support has come to an end. In the 7th post on the ‘Under The Hood’ blog, Ghost Games confirm last month’s Speedlist update will be the last content-based support for the game.

Throughout the post, Ghost Games thank the fans for their feedback and ideas which they insist shaped what the game became over the six months since it arrived on shelves. Features like Manual Transmission, Wrap Sharing, Snapshot Pro, SpeedLists, Customization items and allowing players to own more cars have all came to be thanks to the close relationship between the developers and fans of the long-standing series.

The love for NFS is shown in some mightily impressive player statistics. One of the key features for NFS2015 was the return of a dedicated customization engine and players have spent 950 million minutes tweaking and wrapping their cars to perfection that was compensated by a cumulative money earned total of $2.5 Triilion – it’s clear the residents of Ventura Bay have been pretty busy. Out on the streets, racers have took part in over 550 million events earning 9.8 billion rep points in the process. Perhaps the most interesting statistic is that Ghost Games have managed to attribute (by country of origin) what cars players liked the most. Standout observations include:

  • USA: Acura RSX
  • Canada: Subaru Impreza WRX STi
  • UK: Ford Focus RS
  • Japan: Toyota Sprinter GT Apex

A nice varied selection of cars from four very different countries. Ghost Games put together a nice infographic showing off these statistics and more:

Ghost have also made sure that fans are aware the feedback, progress and foundations of NFS2015 will be used to push the next series’ entry, which will arrive in 2017. Whilst no information has been revealed about that title yet, it wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine based on the comments from Ghost that 2015’s offering is definitely where Need For Speed should be rooted for the coming future. Even though Speedlist marked the final update, the game will still ‘live’ through Community Events that won’t be ending any time soon.

Now this is a garage any car lover would want. Thanks to Filip JDM for the impressive capture

We look forward to hearing about the next entry in the Need For Speed series and wish Ghost Games all the best for the upcoming title.

The word “already?” comes to mind when I see this. I hate that they’re doing this already and it hasn’t even been out long!

Does this mean we won’t be getting neon available on some cars either?

My only wish is they make a handling model that resembles how something would react that has four wheels and an engine. Doesn’t need to be sim inspired, just tolerable.

Another good little read-Thanks Brend :) I enjoyed Ghosts NFS edition made a nice change. The new cars/wraps (focus RS) and especially the addition of snap shot pro..
For 2017. My wish list…New settings on Snap Shot Pro(Shutter speed blur/ along side only stills), Daylight!, bigger map with more coastal Sea views, Interior cockpit views and more cars..My pre-order will be in ;) We shall see what they do next…

Well, I loved the game. Don’t play it much anymore, but I will remember it as a great fun racing game. Very curious for the next Nfs game.

Haha, will not be getting the next one if it’s anything like the 2015 version. NFS went down the plughole after their great titles back in the 90s. Shame, one of the first groundbreaking racing games. Now, the only thing which is the same is the name. That’s it.

Lol the the run down looking, twitchy, black eyed with thin faces actors in this game. Every time I see a cutscene, I think they mean a different kind of speed than the one you experience in cars.

I’m sticking to Trackmania Turbo for my casual racing game fix.

Wait, already ended? Really? Some cars don’t even have much customization..well, that stinks.

I was considering this once I get a better pc but, now that this happened, I guess it ain’t happening. Shame. Lasted for 6-7 months. And thus why you should hype things too much. Suppose was good ’till it lasted.

Released November 2015 – Ended content support May 2016.

    Too short. Extremely short.

In the other side, there is a rumor that a new star wars battlefront will be out in 2017. Current SWBF Season Pass content are still incomplete.

    What are EA thinking?

    1. SavageEvil

Wait it’s mid 2016, new SWBF due in 2017, I am confused as to why you are up in arms over content that still has to be released. Unless I’m mistaken there are just over 6 months left in 2016 yes?

Need For Speed had a great concept, amazing graphics but the gameplay could have been executed better. I’m hopeful Ghost Games will take on board what didn’t go well in the 2015 release and produce a more complete package for 2017.
